I want to say I first binge-watched something like The Wire for the sake of my image (or the lack thereof). But I think it was The OC, on tape, when I was about 13. When you're 13 so much of your existence is defined for you and there was something about the wrestling for freedom and the setting. Growing up in Johannesburg, that whole life was so romantic. House parties, cars, the ocean, teen angst. Done. Second thing that I'm sure had an imprint was the cheesy romance plots.
I don't have a lot of time to watch television. Plus, as I work on my first American TV series in LA, I tend to watch less American film and television. Something about the whole "sausage getting made thing".Netflix needs to chill. I'm generally told I have to watch something, or now that we are doing a lot of casting in Hollywood on various projects, I'll get sent a series as "talent materials" and then get into it. That was the case with Snowfall on FX and Fargo 3.
