Cricketer, footballer, tennis player, keen hunter, litterateur, a good translator and bon vivant, Kalyan took his exit from the play field of life like a sportsman quietly and quickly, without any fuss or regret. Kalyan came from an aristocratic family of Calcutta. Originally belonging to Bangladesh, the zamindar Chowdhury family had settled in Calcutta during British rule and became well-known in elite circles, including the Tagore family for their cultural contributions in various fields. Kalyan had been to England and Italy to study engineering and was employed for some time in a Russian firm. Pawan Kalyan is one of the most famous Telugu actors as well as a director and screenwriter / choregrapher. His actual name is Konidela Babu,and he changed his name to Pawan Kalyan after the movie Akkada Abbai Ikkada Ammayi. His elder brother was an actor-politician, Chiranjeevi. Even Chiranjeevi was there in his debut film in 1996 named 'Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi'. In 1998 his movie Tholi Prema won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. He is popular as a "Power Star"among his fans; Kalyan is known for his movies such as Gokram Rosita, Swagatam, Toriprema, Tamdu, Badri, Kushi, Jarsa, Gabersin, Goparagopara, and Atalinticida Lady. He won the Best Actor Filmfare Award-Gabbar Singh's Telugu version; Attarintiki Daredi held the record for the highest-selling Telugu film.
On India's Top 100 Celebrity List, he was placed 24th in 2018, 69th in 2017, and 26th in 2012. He produces films with the support of Pawan Kalyan Creative Works and Anjana Productions. As the head of the youth section of the Praja Rajyam Party, which his brother Chiranjeevi founded, Kalyan made his political debut in 2008.
