REID, Elizabeth Angela December 31, 1985 - September 29, 2018 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth. Elizabeth is survived by her loving parents Craig and Sharon; her grandmother Loretta Reid of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; her grandmother Donna Floden of Gibbons, Alberta; her grandfather Jack Schneider of Edmonton, Alberta; her uncle David Reid (Inga) of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; her uncle James Reid (Michele) of Perth, Australia; and cousins Jared Reid, Michael Reid, Ryan Reid (Tory) and Samantha Reid. She was predeceased by her grandfather Ken Reid and her aunt Susan Schneider. Elizabeth's greatest loves and achievements were related to golf. She attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX on golf and academic scholarships, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors in the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration. Theresa “Bette” Reid (nee McKenna), longtime resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the age of 91 years.
Bette was born on June 3, 1930, in Montreal, QB. After surviving an unknown future, and at times desperate poverty during the Depression, her family moved to Collingwood, ON. At age 18, she met the love of her life, Henry Reid. They started dating and less than one year later they united in a marriage that would last over 60 years. Although Bette spent a few years as Matron for the Children’s Aid Society running a Receiving Home, she remained a wife, mother and homemaker most of her life. After Henry retired from the Ontario Provincial Police, they visited Alberta for a family wedding and fell in love with Grande Prairie. Returning to sell their home in Orillia, ON, they moved west in 1990, and settled in the Mountview area, creating a happy and loving home until illness separated them in 2012.
Bette was an avid crafter, passing on her knowledge of crocheting, knitting, embroidery, sewing and sketching to her daughters. One of her great joys in life was creating beautiful sweaters for her family, and when she needed a new outlet to knit for, she began attending Craft Sales all over the Peace Region.
