    Dmitri Alexeev entered the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory at the age of six. After graduating he studied with Dmitri Bashkirov and thereafter won prizes in several major competitions including first prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition, the first such achievement by a Russian artist.
